5 Ways to Help Your Country by Spending Your Stimulus Check
Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008
The government is currently in the process of sending out stimulus
payments to those that qualify. In total, there will be $100 billion
sent out. Many of us already have plans to pay down some debt, save for
the future or put into the weekly budget. Those are admirable
intentions and recommended for almost any economic windfall. However
would doing that help the economy? Or would your money be better off
spent on American-made goods?

The rebates people are receiving will
help the economy the most if you spend them on American-made goods. The
stimulus payment was intended to be a shot in the arm to the American
economy, putting the money toward paying off debt or saving for the
future is perhaps not utilizing the payment to its fullest extent.
That’s a great thing about this country, we have a choice. Below are
some suggestions on how to best utilize your stimulus check:
- If you’re wanting to put some money toward your savings or pay off
a debt, consider splitting your check up into two. Put half toward your
debt and the other half toward more luxury items. - Shopping online is an experience many of us are used to. Many stores online have ‘Made in America’ assurances - MadeInUSA.org, MadeInUSA.com and StillMadeInUSA.com.
- Donate part or all of your check to charitable organizations supporting our troops and their families.
- Spending your check on something that improves your life can mean more than groceries, western style clothing
or bicycles. There are American made appliances, carpet, windows or
other home improvement items. All of which will help out the American
economy. - Put the money toward a vacation. Spending time with your family on
a vacation can be some of the most memorable moments of your life.
